6 Alternative Uses for Bar Soap that You Can’t Do with Liquid Soap

  1. Freshen drawers, closets, suitcases, and cars. Unwrap a bar of soap, rewrap the bar in a scrap of cloth or tissue paper, then tuck away anywhere a fresh scent is needed.
  2. Loosen a stiff lock. Coat the key with dry soap, then operate the lock a few times. The lock should become easier to use.
  3. Cleaner glove free gardening. Dig your fingernails into a bar of soap. The soap will prevent soil from collecting under your nails, and easily wash away.
  4. Make marks for sewing. Use a bar of soap instead of pen or pencil to mark cut lines, hems, and seam lines. The soap will wash away, leaving no offending marks on your garment.
  5. Prevent paint splatters. When painting next to windows or mirrors, rub a bar of soap over the glass surface. If you get a bit of paint on the glass, the soap makes it easy to remove. This is much faster than taping off with painters tape!
  6. Unstick zippers. Run a dry bar of soap over zipper teeth for easy gliding.
